shortround, you said it, michael young has been ridiculous so far this year. when i saw the subject for this post i assumed the person was talking about young. i can think of maybe 7 guys i'd give him up for in the entire big leagues.

hehe... im not a Kent hater per se, but all of his monster seasons have come hitting in front of Bonds... hes also 37 and playing a demanding position. i like him but i still had Giles over him at draft time in most of my leagues.

Good call, I would too. You can get Giles later in the draft, and is a more valuable roto player IMO.

I'd agree that hitting in front of Bonds helped him, but he's now hitting around Bagwell, Hidalgo, Berkman, etc......nothing to sneeze at there. Plus, half of the time is in Minute Maid. I have Kent and am pleased. Aside from Young or Soriano, who can give you his production at 2B? Very few....

Worth a third round pick? I dunno. I got him in the 5th in my league.

Kent has a tend to do this sort of thing... he heats up every other year, and I think in this lineup, hell continue the trend.

Just look at his career stats, this guy's got a thing for even numbers

1998- 94 runs, 31 HR, 128 rbi, .297 ;-D
1999- 86 runs, 23 HR, 101 rbi, .290 :-t
2000- 114 runs, 33 HR, 125 rbi, .334 ;-D
2001- 84 runs, 22 HR, 96 rbi, .298 :-t
2002- 102 runs, 37 HR, 108 rbi, .313 ;-D
2003- 77 runs, 22 HR, 85 rbi, .297 :-t
2004- (100+ runs, 30+ HR, 100+ rbi, .300 +)

from 1998-2003 Kent has averaged

Odd years= 82 runs, 22 HR, 94 rbi, .295

Even years= 103 runs, 34 HR, 120 rbi, .315

See a trend?

I'm in the minority on this one, but I had Kent ranked #2 behind only Soriano at 2B going into my drafts. B-)

I had Kent as the #3 2B, with Giles following closely behind. Now Giles/Kent are about equal to each other methinks. As for ZIG suggesting the 5th round is too early for Kent in a 12 team league: lay off the wacky tobacky.
