If it makes you feel any better, I dropped Herges 4 weeks ago, picked up Graves soon after, and picked up Valverde last week.

Herges is really annoying me. I wish Dusty would promote Felix to closer.

Dont know how much pull Dusty has in the Giants system anymore. You wanna talk to Felipe.

wow.
some of you are just completely brain-dead slash uninformed.

this is his 2nd blown save.
out of 12 chances.

most of his Earned Runs have come in awkward situations, tied games, or random outings.

he's being overused and still holding up decently.

I dont have complaints that he blows them, cause he doesnt do that often. Its more that when he does blow them, he goes all out on it and does a number on my stats.

I think calling the concerned Herges owners brain-dead or uninformed is off base. Herges is 34 years old, has a batting average against of almost 300 and a WHIP of 1.56 (not to mention an ERA in the 6 range). Those are bad numbers and cause for concern. Particularly when a pitcher with talent (Felix Rodriguez) is hanging around. I think there is legitimate cause for concern and it would be wise to insure Herges with Rodriguez if you have an open bench spot. One somewhat encouraging sign is that his walk-to-strike out ratio appears to be about what it normally is for him when he has good other numbers (small sample size, but going into today he has 6 walks and 10 ks). For what it's worth, Baseball prospectus projected Herges to have an ERA around 4.00 this year.

nah,
maybe it's off base to say brain-dead,
but uninformed, no.

did you see the responses in this thread?

yes, insurance is always good.
no matter the closer,
but felix rodriquez is nothing special.
not just anyone with good numbers can be thrown into the closer role.

Im in the same boat as a lot of people, and I really want to get rid of herges so he doesnt ruin my ERA and WHIP. My question is, who can I get for Herges right now? I feel like his future isnt very good so trade him while he has 10 saves.
