A. Jones what wrong?

Postby BGbootha » Wed May 12, 2004 10:01 pm

this guy has been just killing me. Its pretty sad that once I get D. Young back, it looks like Bradley and Cameron are going to stay in my lineup and A. Jones is falling to the bench.

Am i to expect this to change?

he was off to a decent bb/k ratio start, indicating better discipline. However, that has fallen off a lot. He has always been prone to pretty bad slumps. Inconsistent hitter.

perfectly normal for Andruw. He is an extremly streaky hitter.
My best advice is to sit him until he has ONE good game, then
start him, and hopefully ride his hot streak. When he has a couple
of bad games, bench him and start the cycle over again.

I wouldn't worry too much. Jones is a classic streaky hitter, he will go on a tare soon enough. ;-D

keep playin him.

He does have tendinitis in the knee, It's been in the atlanta papers , he said he has a hard time getting his front foot out & shiftinh his wait. He looks ok when swinging to me. They have also been feeding him a ton of sliders where he has been chasing them & stirking out alot.

in saying all this & also being an andruw jones owner, i am not worried,. im sure hell come around as will the braves. i did however benh him 4 termell sledge for the time being

i had him last year. him and jim edmunds. the streaks were terrible; one week, they'd combine for like 9 homers, then combine for about 3 over the next month.

i figure he'll straighten it out eventually. didn't know he was hurt, though. that helps explain it.

Andruw Jones will be fine if the Braves get the others healthy and rolling. He's a dangerous complementary hitter, but if he's "the man: in a lineup as he had to be with what the Braves have been trooping out there lately, he's likely not to deliver.

Like was mentioned above, he's also very streaky.

I don't know what it is about that guy but he has never really peaked as a hitter the way most thought he would....streakiness aside, he is an amazing defensive player with some good pop and should be an OK #2-3 fantasy OF....if nancy drew and chipper stay healthy and furcal does his job, andruw should have plenty of opps to put up decent numbers. stick with him
