Sheets has 66 K's and only 9 BB"s and 3 of those were on opening day, his WHIP is going to be under 1.00 most likely this year but he does tend to give up HR's and he will not get quite as much run support as Penny though Mil is hitting pretty well so far this year. Sheets is a much more mature pitcher having been in the league longer and has a much bigger upside this year IMO. I would not trade Sheets for Penny.

Whip under 1.00 for the whole season? 8-o :-?

Ok that may be my optimism getting the best of me, but it will be in the 1.00 to 1.10 range I bet. When you don't walk anyway your WHIP is generally very solid.

Both of these pitchers are really coming into their own this year IMHO. Sheets is not the the more mature pitcher. They are both 25 years old but Penny pitched nearly a full season in 2000 (22 Starts) and Ben did not come into the league until 2001 (25 starts).

If you look at their numbers across the board over the last couple of years they are very similar. So I'd go with Penny solely because the Marlins should be more successful than the Brew Crew this year.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Yes against a team whom he owns a career 8.14 ERA, 2-2 Record and 1.908 WHIP is going to take you into the hall. ;-)

I call it the Eddings effect personally.

But on topic, I like Penny.

Randy Johnson just proved my point last night B-)
