Perfect Games

Postby Soxcess » Tue May 18, 2004 1:30 pm

how valuable are perfect games in fantasy baseball, I've seen the math done about how much effect Bonds avg will have on your team with his limited AB's but how much impact would a perfect game have???? I'm curious to know if anybody's ever calculated this one

In a head-to-head league, a perfect game would be great, assuming a good bit of K's are involved. However, in a roto league, it'll change your ERA and WHIP by a small margin, and not to mention that a bad start or two will take the perfect game's effects right away from you, and you'll certainly have more bad starts than perfect games, or complete games for that matter.

Even in a H2H league the difference would be marginal at best when compared to a CGSO.

WHIP would really be the only diffrence.
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

it depends how many starters you are using and how many innings they pitch, but really do expect to get a perfect game this season? 18 perfect games in 130 years since the National league was formed. (only 16 of those were offical. in one a pitcher pitched 12 perfect innings to lose the game in the 13th, in another the pitcher pitrched 27 consectuive outs, after Babe ruth was ejected after walking the 1st batter)

Oh you're just asking for it. :-b
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
