I am going to have a free roster space in the coming week, and wondering if h worth while. But I have no interest if he is only part-time or will be part time.

Oakland has Dye, Kotsay, Kielty and Byrnes in the OF. Dye is going to start in the OF whenever he is healthy. Kotsay has been battling injuries lately, so Kielty and Byrnes have both been able to start.

When all outfielders are healthy, expect Beane to start Dye, Kotsay and a hot Kielty or Byrnes. Kielty could win a lot of playing time if he manages to get on base consistently for an extended period of time. However, because Byrnes plays his heart out, he will get a few starts a week.

Unless he goes on a tear, Byrnes is probably not someone that you should consider as a season-long option for 2004, as his tools are weaker than anyone in the Oakland outfield mix.
