Injury All-Stars

Postby trac02 » Wed Jun 02, 2004 5:41 am

I've been playing fantasy baseball for years, and I can't think of another year where there have been so many injuries to All-Star caliber players. Eric Chavez going down is the last straw, especially with Nomar just coming back for me. Some people have blamed steroids as a factor; I think it's just awful luck, especially with some guys who don't have a history of injury (Garret Anderson? Chipper Jones?). Here's my all-star team of injured players. And the amazing and ironic part is...Griffey is NOT on the team! I'm sure I'm forgetting some so please add.

DH: Jason Giambi
(Backup: Dmitri Young)
C: Joe Mauer (Not many injured catchers)

1B: Todd Helton
(Backups: Richie Sexson, Jim Thome, Carlos Delgado)

2B: Marcus Giles
(Backups: Roberto Alomar, Bret Boone is a stretch but looks hurt)

SS: Nomar Garciaparra
(Backups: Rafael Furcal, Jose Reyes)

3B: Eric Chavez
(Backups: Troy Glaus, Bill Mueller)

Magglio Ordonez
Sammy Sosa
Barry Bonds (couldn't decide whether to include him since he misses games every year)

(Backups: Garret Anderson, Chipper Jones, Preston Wilson, Trot Nixon, Carl Everett, Austin Kearns, Juan Gonzalez)

Mark Prior
Kerry Wood
Josh Beckett
Andy Pettitte
Jake Peavy
(Backups: Hideo Nomo, Byung-Hyun Kim)

Middle relief:
Brendan Donnelly
Scott Williamson
Rafael Soriano

Billy Wagner
(Backups: Robb Nen, Matt Mantei)
Oliver Perez watch

3-3, 3.74 ERA, 1.15 WHIP in 10 starts

23 BB, 8 HR and 72 K in 65 IP (9.97 K/9)

2 complete games, 1 shutout

that's pretty good...

i still can't get over the fact that nomar is leading in SS voting... I hope he declines the invite. that would be the classy thing to do...

don't forget wickman in your closers, as well as halladay.
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll drown because you forgot to teach him to swim.
