Anybody know anything about this guy Jorge Cantu. I read he hit 21 hrs and is a second baseman. Rotoworld said the D Rays called up outfielder Jorge Cantu. Where is he going to play? Worth a shot?

I would pass. He's a complete hacker, who can't recognize a ball or a strike. What that means is he had enough power to get by minor league pitching, but he should look foolish in the bigs, even if he pops the occasional home run. He would most likely be used off the bench at a corner OF or a little 3b and DH.

Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.

rotoworld sees him as a SS Util player so that will help him get more ab's.

Can't see Cantu being of much use unless the D-Rays deal away Lugo. Suppose he could end up in some kind of DH platoon, but I think this guy is pretty limited.

y'all are hatin on the kid.

he's what, 21? 22?

hit .244 in a little over two years in AA.
while so far in 83 games in AAA, he's hitting .310

he'll be good, i don't know how good he will be as of right now..
but i like his chances.

He really doesn't have to much of a chance to get regular playing time this year. When Upton gets called up, Lugo will move to 2nd. Huff will be at 3rd so he can't play there and there are a few others at the DH including Gathright looking for some PT.

That being said, Lugo has said he would prefer to play SS, which won't happen for him in TB. If they trade him or get rid of him some way, Cantu could be the Rays 2B next year. (or 3B if Huff moves to 1B)
