Long awaited Gonzo decision

Postby Rirruto » Sun Jul 18, 2004 10:50 pm

ESPN is reporting that Luis Gonzalez will undergo Tommy John surgery early next month, ending his season.
Gonzalez is going to continue to play regularly for now. Once he shuts it down, the Diamondbacks could make Luis Terrero is a regular. If they don't dump Roberto Alomar, Scott Hairston would be another candidate to play left field.

Be prepared to dump him my fellow Gonzo owners. (if you haven't already)

congratulations, you found the ONE player in fantasy baseball that didn't know he was hurt. Myself i traded him for a cheap Kotsay(keeper league) a couple of weeks ago. Certainly nowhere NEAR full value for him but better than the nothing i was afraid of getting stuck with........ Barely...

Does this mean that they've decided to trade the big-unit? Being a Randy owner now I'm really hoping they trade him and he dosen't end up loosing every game 1-0 down the stretch with this pathetic AZ offense.

Although RJ's agent is denying the swirling rumors, this may signal serious changes in the Atlanta organization, meaning Johnson moving is very possible.

You mean Arizona, right? :-D

Luis Gonzalez was on my do not draft list for this year because of that injury. With them so far out of it, it's not too surprising that he's going to shut it down early.

I think Gonzo's decision offers little insight into whether or not Johnson is traded. It just means Gonzo has finally realized that the season is no longer salvageable.
