Most Insulting Trade Offers

Postby CrazyPooja90 » Mon Jul 19, 2004 1:18 am

Some guy just offered me Craig Biggio for Kerry Wood. I'm going to go find him and pimp slap his ass.

I know everyone knows that this is Biggio's mvp season and that Wood will pale in comparison.

Why is it that people get so insulted by a bad trade offer? It's often just to start the negotions and get a conversation going. Plus you have to start low so that you can end up moving towards the middle and making it seem like you're giving up a lot. If you start off with all you've got to offer then they'll just end up asking for more.

I understand what you mean by setting up a basis for trade offers and not letting the other guy expect too much but this offer was horrible. It is hard to work off something like this.

I snagged Schmidt from a guy earlier this year during his injury(Beckett for Schmidt). The guy sends me at least two proposals a week trying to get him back. My favorites so far:

H. Matsui for Schmidt
Moyer/Drew for Schmidt/Vlad
Moyer/Pierre for Schmidt/Beltran

And of course the best was after the latest Beckett DL trip he wanted to try the original trade

Beckett for Schmidt

Not so much insulting, just funny how bad he wanted his original guy back. Not that I blame him.

Maybe I should have explained-I sent him in email first, saying I am interested in improving my hitting so I would happy to start negotiations. He doesnt respond for a week or so. Then after I try ot get negotiations started he comes back with this

Come on man. That's pretty insulting.

WOW. I told him no to the Wood Biggio deal, so he said "Biggio and Stephen Randolph then" (The crappy arizona relief pitcher)
