Total Newbie - Where to find advice?

Postby gmdepp » Wed Apr 16, 2003 1:17 pm

Hey all,

I am totally new at fantasy baseball and need to learn more about it, is there a simple guide anyone knows of anywhere? There is a ton of information about different people, but any type of guide seems to be a pay deal online.

Thanks

kind of depends on what kind of league you are in to start with.

I am in a head to head yahoo league where I have to set my lineup daily.

So I am reading fantasy info and scores all the time.

sites I use are:

http://games.espn.go.com/cgi/flb/frontpage
http://fantasy.sportingnews.com/baseball/home.html
http://fantasybaseball.usatoday.com/ind ... ort=bsball
http://www.rototimes.com/baseball1/index.html
http://games.espn.go.com/cgi/flb/request.dll?CORINDEX

Here's an incredible site with daily updates. This is my new Sporting News (since they made most of their site pay).

got any good sites for monitoring games?

I usually use espn for that, but it seems to be very delayed now. I like their format.

mlb.com probably updates the fastest that I have seen.

http://www.fantasybaseballcentral.com

That site has a ton of links to different sorts of resources. It's what I used when I first started getting into fantasy baseball and wanted to read a bunch of articles on general advice. It was also where I found the link to the cafe. Good stuff. And, as always, any specifc questions you have can be posted to the cafe.

my general advice:

you want the hitters that hit the ball.

you want the pitchers that get outs.

stealing bases is cool, so are saves.

and everything else should then fall into place.

some people don't know what they have on their hands; this is particularly useful if you do.

all hail vladimir guerrero and mark prior.

have a good season.
