I like this deal for the Twins. They give up Doug Mientkiewicz who they didn't need with Morneau playing 1b and hey got a top 60 prospect for him in LHP Justin Jones.

Clement was not involved. The Cubs absolutely raped them and got Nomar for midlevel prospects Brendan Harris, Frances Beltran and Justin Jones. This deal definitely makes up for such stupid moves the Cubs have made in the past such as trading Lou Brock or letting Maddux go. Also as a neat little twist on Nomar, he has a career .370 OPS and according to baseball reference.com is most like..... Ernie Banks. Good sign IMO. If you sign him, the Cubs are absolutely beastly next year.

My guess for their lineup
1. Walker
2. Nomar
3. Sosa
4. Alou
5. Ramirez
6. Lee
7. Barrett
8. Patterson
9. Pitcher
That is a very solid lineup 1-8, and Nomar in the 2 hole should be able to get on base in front of your other power. As a cubs fan I am very excited about this deal!

i actually think the red sox got the best of the trade cuz obviously they got the first basemen defensively that they needed and second of all cabrera aint that bad he has just been slumpin cuz they he plays for the expos now he is playin with the red sox who are a great offensive team so he will definitely get more rbi's and runs

I'll dive into this more tonight since I'm at work and can't say much.

I will say this for now: as pissed off as joshheines was yesterday at how poorly his Mets screwed up their deals, I'm equally, maybe a little less pissed at how poorly the Sox did today.

I'd be very surprised if Nomar resigned with the cubs next year, I think it's been pretty clear from the beginning that he wants to play on the west coast.

Cubs got cash from the Red Sox too. Wow. Plus Murton, who was the Red Sox 1st rounder in 2003. Cubs made off better the Red Sox clearly. Id like to see your argument Rico. Alright I have to go dance now.

Im not saying this wasn't an awful deal for the Red Sox, but I think it was a much better deal for the Cubs, who basically gave up nothing for a superstar, a topnotch prospect and some extra cash.

While Murton is a 1st round pick, he is not a top notch prospect. He is at best an average OF in 3 years or so....more likely a 4th OF type.
