If so, does anyone have a decent track record? I bet on them sometimes but I usually don't do so well.

Swing -- in all honesty, I just can't understand why anyone in the world bets on baseball. I don't bet on any sport that much, but baseball somehow seems singularly inappropriate for betting. The way the lines work, the way you rarely know ahead of time if some player is going to get the day off (Bonds has had either 2 or 3 DNPs already this year), etc. It just all seems to add up to "don't bet on baseball cuz your chances of picking the winner based on any sort of logic is nonexistent".

Rose -- a great player, but an utter sleazeball who bet on games involving his own team.

Do the crime, do the time. Unfortunately for him, time in this case is life, as known by everybody in baseball. Hell, it's posted on the wall of every MLB clubhouse in baseball.

I couldn't agree with you more Amnorix. Regardless of Pete Rose. Anybody excited about betting on baseball has "Gambling problem" written all over them. You'd have better odds betting on New England weather. I wish I could add something more here but you already said it all Amnorix. Touché

Tell me about the freakin' New England weather. Here in Boston it was 80 degrees on Tuesday -- just completely gorgeous, and today it's 35 and windy. Spring can show up and hang around any day now... :-C

I don't bet on baseball, but I have a chunk of change on Empire Maker to win the Kentucky Derby at 12.80-1 odds.

Don't bet on sports, casino games, or the lottery. Your best chance at winning is at player vs player games such as poker or horseracing.

I dont bet now, but i hope too someday. Have been practicing, no $, just trying to pick games, trying to see my success level. It can be done. I know some guys that dont work, their job is betting. If you want to be serious at it, it takes about 4 hours work before each days 1st game. I dont have the time, or capital right now, since i work. Lots of things to look at. Teams playing, home park, teams play last 7 days, starting pitchers, sp last 3 starts, sp track record versus opponent, injuries, whos home plate ump, theres a site with each umps history of balls/strikes for last year, bio rythems of sp. The USA today gives the betting line for the matchups, or betonsports.com gives daily game lines.

What site gives the history of balls and strikes?
