Want to drop Spivey, who should I pick up?

Postby Happy Homer » Fri Apr 18, 2003 1:20 am

Spivey is still playing horrible and it's looking as if he won't bounce back. I'm looking to drop him for someone to help my team, help me pick who! What are the main weaknesses on my team? btw if I drop Spivey I can probably pick him back up later.

Here's a list of quality people on the wire

Burks, J. Gonzales, Finley, Ibanez, Hildalgo, Koskie, Fullmer, Vaughn, C. Lee, Moyer, Reed, W. Williams, Graves, Villafuerte, Acevedo

My team:
C - Toby Hall
1B - Todd Helton
2B - Mark Ellis
3B - Troy Glaus
SS - Miguel Tejada
OF - Barry Bonds
OF - Vernon Wells
OF - Pat Burrell
Util - Jeff Bagwell
Util - Hank Blalock
Bench - Shannon Stewart
Bench - Junior Spivey
Bench - Torii Hunter

-----------------------------------------------------

SP - Kerry Wood
SP - Kevin Millwood
SP - Randy Wolf
RP - Scott Williamson
RP - Rocky Biddle
P - Kevin Brown
p - Kyle Lohse
Bench - Tim Wakefield

Well, you already have two outfielders on your three man bench, so you probably would want to add a backup infielder if you were going to drop Spivey. Two options that you didn't list but will likely be there are D'Angelo Jimenez (ChiSox) and Ronnie Belliard (Rockies). Both have starting jobs and both are eligible at 2B and 3B, giving you injury and day off flexibility.

I would drop Stewart for Juan gone, and Wakefield for Williams. I might keep Spivey for when Ellis cools off.
