Soriano/Mussina for Pedro/Castillo

Postby zebulon » Thu Aug 01, 2002 11:10 am

I've been offerred Soriano and Mussina for Pedro and Castillo in my Yahoo H2H league.

My pitching currently looks like this:

SP Pedro
SP Rodrigo Lopez
SP Washburn
SP Lawrence
SP David Wells
SP Kip Wells
SP Carlos Zambrano
RP Gagne
RP R Hernandez
RP Remlinger
RP Kolb

I could use a power boost and right now, Soriano is ranked #1 for good reason. Normally, Mussina is top rate, and I'm sure if his ERA wasn't 4.83 this deal would never have been offered. On the one hand, he should still get more wins pitching for the Yanks, but his ERA and WHIP bother me. Pedro has been on fire. But a guy like Soriano can help your team everyday unlike a SP only once a week.

Any thoughts?

Definately....that trade will help you out alot.Soriano,in my book,is a LOT better than Castillo.Soriano gets you steals, like Castillo, but he also gets you lots of HR's and RBI's.Mussina for Pedro is pretty close also.Mussina doesn't have as good ERA but he will win you games just the same as Pedro. So I would definately accept that trade if I were you.

I agree. Mussina will continue getting wins and his ERA and WHIP should get better as his numbers move toward his career norm ERA of 3.57...also Pedro tipically begins to show fatigue and soreness at the 150 IP mark and he is currently at 145 IP. Soriano is a strong improvement over Castillo so this should be an easy call.
