Uh, he's only 20 years old. Little early for this isn't it?

Umm, your really wrong. He is only 20 years old and one of the best pitching prospects in the minors. If your going to judge a 20 year old on his first few starts and think that determines his career, then your really quite mistaken.

I'm not saying he will be an all-star, though he easily has that type of talent. But you need to wait a little while before you start judging prospects, cause your really far off on this one.

The K/9 shows he has great stuff, he's 20 years old give him a break. We won't be able to properly evaluate the trade for another 2-3 years atleast.

The trade looks every bit as bad as it did when it was made.

You dont trade 20 year old lefty phenoms-period.

kazmir may be bad for the rest of the year. he is 20 yrs old. but as bad as he may be, he'll still contribute more than victora zambrano who is arbitration eligible and may be headed for Tommy John surgery(any updates on that?)

great trade for TB. what the hell were the mets thinking?

The Mets (Jim Duquette specifically) stood by the organization's opinion that Kazmir wasn't close to being major league ready. This was the primary reason they agreed to trade him. When TB decided to start Kazmir, and then after the kid's first start, the Mets caught a lot of flak (both on this forum and in the national media).

It is at least some vindication that the Mets were correct. TB was wrong ... so far.

And ... due to the fact that TB seriously misjudged Kazmir's readiness it supports my stance even more that at least a year is needed to judge this trade.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

How was TB wrong? I've never heard anyone in the organization say Kazmir was ready. At the end of the year you promote your top prospects and let them get some playing time, especially if you have no shot at the playoffs like in the Rays case.

Also not to be to sarcastic, but the Mets were right that a 20 year old pitcher wasn't ready? Many other people could of figured that one out and not be big baseball fans. Why did the Mets even want a MLB ready pitcher when they were pretty much out of the W.C. race anyways.

It was a bad trade when it was made. Unless Kazmir flops, which he could, I think it will be a bad trade regardless for the Mets.

What does that mean? Because he is 20 it is obvious that he wasn't ready? Puleeze. It wasn't so obvious to everyone after that first outing, was it?
