Trading for Jeter

Postby isis » Thu Aug 08, 2002 11:40 pm

I'd like to put together an offer for Jeter. I could use the SB. From my roster what is a fair offer. The guy who has him could use pitching and maybe an OF.

His rotation is:

Jennings, Wells Kip
Hoffman, Nen, Escobar, Wolf, Finley, Dotel, Armas and Lieber

My rotation:

Pedro, Zito, Wade Miller, Russ Ortiz, Schmidt, Pettitte, Percival, Osuna, Julio, Woody Williams

His OF is Wells, Giles, Winn

I have Trot on the Bench.

What would be a fair offer? Thanks for the feedback.

I was thinking maybe 2 of the four: Pettitte, Wade, Trot, Batista (my current SS)

Unfortunately, you'd be trading Batista when his value is pretty low, so that offer might not be enough unless the other team already has another option at ss. You could try offering Zito plus Batista if you have enough confidence in the rest of your pitching staff, but that would leave you with a hole on the mound. Then again, you could offer Miller plus Batista (and maybe Nixon as well, if losing him won't hurt you). Miller is having a good run, and might be a bit overvalued at the moment.

I'd try the MIller/Batista offer, and if that doesn't work, look for a cheaper (one-dimensional) speed merchant. Players like Sanchez, Roberts or even Aaron Boone (although he will not keep playing at this level) would presumably cost you much less, and provide a quick speed infusion.
