Is Odalis Perez going 7-6 a record?

The rise of the relief pitcher is going to make a season like Perez's more commonplace.

It seemed to me that a lot of managers had a quick hook this year
and the starter would get pulled after 3 or 4 innings.... Orrrr
I could still be bitter about losing a W plenty of times due to the starter get pulled before 5 innings and some middle relief pitcher
coming for 1/3 or 2/3 of an inning and vulturing a win away from me!! :-t :-t :-t

35 starts, 7 wins, 16 losses, and a 3.59 era.

Losing Sexson really hurt the offense.

Wow. Winning Pct .304 Era-3.59 8-o

Here's a trivia for Tavish:

What's the lowest combo of ERA and Winning Pct. excluding decimals, with 30 starts.

Webb 304 +359 = 663
Franklin 200 + 490 = 690
Sheets 462 + 270 = 732
Clement 409 + 368 = 777
Livan 423 + 360 = 783
Glavine 440 + 360 = 803

Well the worst in history is Jack Nabors in 1916 who had a 3.47 ERA and went 1-20 in 30 starts (total of 395). Some other notables are Walter Johnson in 1909 (2.22 13-25 564), Ed Walsh in 1910 ( 1.27 18-20 601), and Christy Mathewson in 1918 (2.11 14-17 663). Here are the lowest in the more modern era.
<pre>yearID nameFirst nameLast GS Total ERA Win Perc L W
1987 Nolan Ryan 34 609.33 2.76 333.33 16 8
1985 Dave LaPoint 31 648.67 3.57 291.67 17 7
1990 Matt Young 33 658.69 3.51 307.69 18 8

Didn't Jim Abbott have a losing record with a great ERA with the Angels?

Actually, I think it was because they had so many come from behind wins ;-D

I attribute it clearly to his lack of run support mostly. I owned him until about August and trust me, he's the most frustrating pitcher to watch in the majors maybe RJ had it as bad. But I estimate that with 2 or 3 more runs of support he could be an 18 game winner like he was a couple of years ago. Think about that:

7 wins vs. 18

Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.

He deserved it, IMO. His DIPS ERA is 4.42.
