Outfield Pickups

Postby Guest » Fri Aug 16, 2002 2:49 pm

I'm current 4 points behind 1st place in a 10 team 4x4 league. I wanted to see who you think I should pick up for next week in my outfield. I currently have:

Anderson, Garret ANA OF
Knoblauch, Chuck KC OF
Guerrero, Vladimir MON OF
Richard, Chris BAL OF
Jones, Andruw ATL OF

Here are my batting statistics:

4th in BA
2nd in HR
1st in RBI
4th in SB

Here are the people that are available for my outfield for next week:

Finley, Steve
McCracken, Quinton
Kearns, Austin
Payton, Jay
C. Patterson, ChC
G. Matthews Jr., Bal

Well for overall performance you need to cut Knoblauch and put in Steve Finley. this month he is hitting .306 with 5HR...he has 13 SB on the season so he will probably help you out there also...If you just want to help your score in AVG go with McCracken and his .331 AVG. For some reason he has not been stealing this year though.

Dave Roberts might be a good pickup if hes on waivers, lead off hitter for the dodgers, go with him if hes there

Knoblauch just isn't getting it done. One of those two for Chucky is definitely worthwhile.

Downside is your steals situation. You stand to lose a bit if you give up Chuck but I think his steals were heavily weighted early. Someone to think about is Matthews who has a better average and is getting some steals - not bad in keeper leagues too if that matters. Finley gets you close.

All depends on how close the standings are. Are you being caught in HR's and rbi's? What's your buffer in steals?

For now, I'd say Finley is your best option (of those listed as available), but keep a very close eye on Jay Payton. The situation in Colorado could once again change without a great deal of advance warning...
