That's priceless. First you knock two of the best picks in the draft and then go on to say something even more absurd. Ichiro? Please. Crawford is better and Ichiro won't win you the SB cat practically alone like Crawford will. I won't even take Ichiro 3rd round.

I'd take Manny over Abreu this year, next year, and the year after. People are down on him somewhat because he only batted .308 but I'd expect him to raise it back up to his old levels. Abreu is very good and should have another good power year but his SB's I don't see reaching 30. He's a first rounder IMO. Manny I have at number 4 overall though.

Manny gets it done year after year after year. Cleveland or Boston. Doesn’t matter. It’s a no-brainer.

Add the Boston lineup and Fenway – this shouldn’t be a debate.

Have you ever viewed Abreu's career numbers? If last year was a 'career year', then he's had a few of them already.

Abreu is consistently hitting .300 with 20+hr, 90+rbi, and 30+ steals. Anyone who would pass on that is a moron.

A moron? To pass on Abreu for Manny? OK ;-7

What do you call people who think Peavy will repeat his 2.27 ERA?

Well I don't doubt that he'll be very good... I have him down for a 2.97 ERA actually. But last night when that guy predicted a 2.76 ERA and you said that would be considered a bad season for Peavy and to expect around 2.27 again, that seemed kinda ridiculous. He's very good though, no doubt about that.

I can't find a reason why his ERA would suddenly fall back 3/4 a point though, especially with his consistency.

First of all, he was extremely lucky last year that his ERA was that low, given his K's, BB's, and HR. It should have been around 2.75 without the luck factor (this is a formula I have; it's not off the top of my head). Then I figure he won't be as dominant as last year because it's tough for anybody to repeat that, et alone a guy as young and unproven as Peavy. So I have him at 2.97. He could be lower but he could also be higher and I'd pay for him thinking his ERA would be 2.97 in '05.
