anyone know anything about this guy, i was reading up on him and he had 26 homeruns in only like 336 at bats or somthing. hes real young, is this guy worth a roster spot in a keeper league and if so what round??

He's a future stud...I have very little doubt about it. The only problem is that he doesn't have a place to play (yet). Once an injury strikes, he'll have his chance.

He was sent from the Yankees along with Brandon Claussen if I remember correctly, for Aaron Boone. He has a regulation in his contract that states the he cannot be sent to the Minors (signed by the Yankees), therefore he has been maturing on the ML level. He has uncanny power, so it's just a matter of learning how to have better plate presence and make better contact. I think he was in the Majors at the age of 19 or something crazy like that.

In a keeper/dynasty league...he's a tremendous pick. I fully expect him to be a 40-50 hr OFer someday. It's just a matter of if the Reds will trade someone to give him some playing time.

i heard they are trying to get rid of griffey to make room for him but that will be hard to do. so if they dont move griffey is he the odd man out? i like what ive read about him and hes so young still, im in the middle of my draft and were in the 16th round, im wondering if i should take a chance on this guy. my team is very slid allready so maybe taking a chance on him is no biggie??

I'd grab him in the 16th if your team is already in good shape.

If it's not a keeper league...I would wait. I don't think the Reds will be able to move anyone before the season starts, so basically, yeah he's the odd-man out. And Ryan Freel is even battling for the 4th OF spot against Pena (Freel's not likely to win though). I think you could grab him in the 20th something round if you want him that badly...just make sure your leaguemates know he's not a starter.

Kearns or Griffey will go down at some point this year, that's a given. When that time arrives, it would be nice to have Sammy Sosa Jr...I mean Willy Mo Pena to come off your bench for you.

the Reds got Willy Mo as a rule five pick. They made him sit on the bench for an entire season in '03, hampering his development. When Griffey and Kearns went down last seaosn he filled in remarkably well. I still wouldn't rule out the Reds making a trade to open up playing time for him.

I stand corrected ... it was a trade from the yankees

If he could get a starting job, he could put up nice numbers, but unless Kearns, Griffey or Dunn gets hurt it will be hard for him to slip into the lineup.
