How Many Teams in Your League?

Postby Lime » Tue Feb 08, 2005 12:57 pm

This year there will be 20 teams in my Yahoo H2H league.

Con: Watered down rosters

Pro: More challenging, and as the old saying goes, "the more the better."

By having this quantity of competition alone, I feel I'm preparing myself for battle with the fantasy whizzes of the Cafe in 2006. I'm coming...

*Question: Are there leagues that even allow an odd number of teams? I hope so or else my options don't make perfect sense.

Usually 8-10, last year we had 12 and we've lost 5 owners, but we've already got 3 for next year.

Part of it depends on roster size, but last year (my first in FBB), I was in a couple of 12-team leagues, and one 8-team.

The 8-team league got quite boring, because everyone's team was stacked, and the waiver wire was much less important.

I like having somewhere around 12-14...deep...but not deep enough that I have to reach for Shane Spencer as a starting OFer... B-)

Split leagues I like to be around 10.... :-)

my main league is a 10 team H2H league with my buddies, it was 12 last year, but due to un-competitiveness and lack of interest by a few owners, we eliminated 3 owners, and replaced 1 of them.

Well that's just like, your opinion man.

Whenever you've got fewer than 10 teams (I might argue making it up to 10) you've GOT to run AL- or NL-only. It's a joke to go universe with a 6- or 8-teamer.

My current league, due to a mix of additions and defections, started at 16, dropped to 12, then bounced back to 14 the last couple years. Not sure how many we'll have this summer, but I hope at least 14, and 16 would be better.

As I found out in my first season! (Although I should say the commish wanted 10 teams, but 2 guys pulled out at the last minute)

The best league I'm in has 18 man rosters, but that's the only one I'm in with that many. It's much better with more owners, IMO. If you make a bad pick in an 8 team league, oh well pick up a FA player and you won't lose much. Make a bad pick with an 18 team league... you'll be praying Shane Spencer is still available :-b
