Well its not as deep as 1B of OF, thats for sure ...
and try and find a 3B that will steal bases ..

IMHO ... Its still Arod hands down ...

Actually, we've had this discussion thread too, and as it turns out, 3B IS as deep as 1B and OF (but only if you have to field 3 or more OF)

I'd much rather get a Pujols or Vlad then snag a Rolen in the 2nd round. IMO Rolen and ARod are about equal.

AVG Hr SB RBI
ARod

.286 36 28 106

Rolen

.314 34 4 124

Rolen hit 20 points higher than ARod and also had more RBI's. ARod had 2 more HR, and 24 more SB. My point is I'd rather lock up Vlad or Pujols with Rolen then Arod...

The point of mentioning the depth of 3B when talking about A-Rod is that it isn't nearly as shallow as SS. Just looking at stats, and not position, A-Rod barely deserves top 10 IMO.

And for the record, I think 1B/3B/OF are all pretty much the same depth, give or take a bit. You have to rememebr teams need 3 OF's, so the fact that there's more good ones is somewhat negated.

that can't be true ..

thiese are ranked by rototimes Dollar rankings so don't read to much into there ranks.

The first thing you see is that there are obviouslly more draftable 1B than 3B.
Secondly, the drop off in quality 3B comes around spot 12 and the drop off in quality 1B begins at around 16 or 17 at the earliest.

Now I excluded all position players that are eligable at 2B and SS like Uribe and Figgins, and in IMO if you are drafting one of those guys as your 3B ...shame on you. ;-)

Looks even to me. And even if they weren't, A-Rod wouldn't be in my top 5. I don't see how you think he's #1, especially with such enthusiasm.

Why do you have to hit .300/40/110/110 and steal 25 bases to be #1? Not to mention I doubt A-Rod will hit .300 or get 25 SB's.
