I would grab Mesa.
Show your league how confident you are in your drafting abilities, that you can toy with them.

That's got to be some of the best advice I've ever seen :-D

Seriously though, I would take Helton easily. If TB is a category - you can't pass up Helton. He does make me a little nervous too with the past back issues, but he ALWAYS puts up solid r, rbi, hr, avg, and TB. 5 out of 6 is pretty good.

I really wanted to say RJ before I learned that CGs were a cat - even still Id take RJ for his upside. He could be a monster this yr.

I also want to say that I agree with not thinking of this pick as who you ar going to keep next yr - this 1st rd pick is for '05 and he gets dropped back into the pool in '06.

Wow. This is getting interesting. I am 1 pick away from picking in the 2nd round and the following players are still on the board. At worst, 1 of them will be gone when I pick:

Mark Teixeira
Adrian Beltre
Carl Crawford
Miguel Cabrera
Randy Johnson
Johan Santana
Mark Prior
Jason Schmidt

I'd take Crawford. ;-D
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Cool. Any other thoughts?? RJ just went off the board so it looks like Crawford, Cabrera, or Santana. :-°

Id go with either Santana or Crawford depending on your needs - I dont think MCab should go that high - his stats can be had a round later.

crawford or Santana. MCab will be very solid but better as a keeper next year. If you can get him one or two rd later I'd say grab him.
