Matt Cain or Jerome Williams

Which SF pitcher do you feel has the most upside? Obviously Cain will not pitch in the majors this year, but in a Dynasty league who would you rather have and why?

I like Jerome Williams - I think he has the tools and is beginning to get the experience he needs to be a consistent starter.

Cain has the most upside. He's one of the top ten prospects in the minors overall. Giants fans are really excited about this kid. Williams' ceiling is said to be that of a #2 starter. Not bad, but no where near cain.

If it is a Dynasty league, definitely go with cain... much higher ceiling than Williams and they are saying he wil make his debut this summer at the earliest fall at the latest so he still might help you this season..

Unless this is some deep bench spot that doesn't affect this year I'd want Williams.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Matt Cain may have more upside on paper, but until he proves it against Major League hitting... Jerome Williams is the better pick ;-D

You can wait 2-3 years for Matt Cain to hit his potential, or you can enjoy the next 2-3 years of production from a Major League starter, in Jerome Williams... Do you even know what you will be doing in 3 years, let alone if you will still be involved in your fantasy league 3 years from now.. I love keeper leagues, but it's no guarantee everyone else in your league feels the same way you do, and it may not last 3 years... I always keep this in mind, when drafting for a keeper league..would rather win now, and build a good team for the future, with young players contributing now... ;-D

I pretty much agree with everyone here. Cain for the future cause of his upside, but if you can't wait or want something sooner, just go with Williams.
