Sammy Sosa's Impact On The Oriels

Postby red_sox_fan2004 » Tue Feb 15, 2005 4:02 pm

What, if any kind of impact will Sammy Sosa have on the O's this season. Also any predictions on a home run total?

Put me down for 40hr and the O's will finish in third this season in the Al East.

if my favorite team had any good starters, i would say they have a chance at the wild card. But until they figure that out, they'll finish 3rd, maybe even 4th behind a improving Devel Ray team...

Have some faith man the D-Rays have and always will suck, as long as there in the same division as the Sox and Yanks that is.

They'll score a lot of runs just like last year, and they'll give up a lot of runs like last year. I don't see Sosa making a big difference. But any team with Daniel Cabrera (worst SP in baseball, IMO) as their #4 starter is in trouble. Especially in the AL East.

What's an Oriel? :-?

I see Sosa coming very close to 40 homers, and possibly hitting that many. His AVG will be near .250 as a result of the league switch and insane amounts of K's.

As for the D-rays always sucking, I doubt that. They won't become perennial power houses, but I don't see them as cellar dwellers forever. Huff is only 28 and Crawford is very young. Gathwright is also young, and they've got more good prospects after those. BJ Upton, for example... Having Pinella as a coach doesn't hurt either.
Can't worry about tomorrow's pain tonight.

Why is Daniel Cabrera the worst SP in baseball?

Because there's nobody worse than him.

Haha good answer... also Cabrera had a full season of MLB work had an ERA of 5.00 and a WHIP at 1.58. Apparently only strikes out 76 while BB 89, and had about one hit per inning pitched. Finally, 7.33 ERA after the half... stellar. Go Orioles.
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike
