Chris Heston – Giants – SP – Y! 6% - ESPN 5%
With Matt Cain sidelined, and has not picked up a ball yet, Chris Heston has stepped into the rotation. Through two starts he has struck out ten, and has a 0.69 ERA. He gets a huge boost pitching in San Francisco, and has looked impressive early. For those streaming pitchers, keep an eye on his matchups.
Joel Peralta – Dodgers – RP – Y! 44% - ESPN 40%
Joel Peralta looks to have the closer role for L.A. Jansen will be out for at least another month, that gives plenty of save chances to Peralta in the meantime. The situation was murky before, but it seems Peralta is the guy.
Brandon McCarthy – Dodgers – SP – Y! 77% - ESPN 31%
McCarthy has 19 strikeouts through two games, that is the the most in the majors right now. The problem has been him giving up home runs, six in two games. He has turned into a fantasy gamble, he will help in strikeouts, but hurt ERA. He is worth a mention due to his strikeouts alone.
Mike Fiers – Brewers – SP – Y! 81% - ESPN – 71%
Fiers had a rough first start, he faced a tough Pittsburgh team and allowed five earned runs. This resulted in a 26% drop on ESPN, which could mean he was dropped in your league. He is still a valuable pitcher with tremendous strikeout potential.
Jeurys Familia – Mets – RP – Y! 50% - ESPN – 53%
Familia will be the long term closer for the Mets. Jenrry Mejia was handed down an 80 game suspension for performance enhancing drugs. This provides Familia with an opportunity to close for half, if not the whole season. He has converted two saves in two chances so far.
Angel Pagan – Giants – OF – Y! 60% - ESPN 26%
Pagan got off to a nice quick start, but has slowed down over the last few games. He still holds plenty of value in the third spot for the Giants. Once Pence gets back he should return to the lead off spot.
Nori Aoki – Giants – OF – Y! 19% - ESPN 29%
Nori Aoki is loving San Francisco right now, he is hitting .412 so far this season. The problem has been getting him in. It is tough to see where he lands once Hunter Pence gets back, his high average could keep him up top, with the possibility of Panik dropping to the bottom half.
Marlon Byrd – Reds – OF – Y! 52% - ESPN 34%
A slow start for Byrd this season, but still a guy who should be held on the bench at the least until he gets going. Byrd hit 25 home runs and drove in 85 runs last season in Philadelphia. The move to Cincinnati will help him, be patient, Byrd will get going.
Dexter Fowler – Cubs – OF – Y! 32% - ESPN 8%
After Fowler collected four hits in Colorado, I am hoping this gets him going, and isn't a sign he can only hit there. Slow starts are common all around baseball, Fowler still holds value in the lead off spot for the Cubs.
Chris Coghlan – Cubs – OF – Y! 3% - ESPN 1%
If you are in a deeper league, I love Chris Coghlan. He is a lefty who will see his fair share of time as of now against right-handed pitching. Playing time is the issue with him, he hit .283, and had nine home runs in just 385 at-bats last season. He has a career .341 wOBA, and a 110 wRC+ against right-handed pitching.
